Certain parties trying to gain political mileage from human tragedies:Sagar

Jammu, March 16 (Scoop News) – Minister for Rural Development, Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs,  Ali Mohammad Sagar today said that certain parties are trying to gain political mileage from various human tragedies.

The Minister was replying in response to a Private Members Resolution moved by  Murtaza Khan in Legislative Council.

The Minister said that the Government has already constituted a Commission of Inquiry to probe the recent incidents of violence during the summer unrest. He said that action has already been initiated against some security personnel in Anantnag district and the Station House Officer has been placed under suspension. “It is for the first time that action has been initiated against the security personnel involved in the killing of Zahid Farooq, wherein a senior officer has been booked under law”, he maintained.

Asking the parties to refrain from politicizing issues,  Sagar said that history stands testimony to the fact that the persons who are trying to project themselves as patrons of Human Rights have themselves bad track record of the same. It was during their tenure glaring violations have taken place in which scores of people were killed, he said.

“For the first time in recorded history, the Union Home Minister has said that Kashmir is a unique problem and needs a unique solution”, he said and maintained that the Chief Minister has also openly stated that we will facilitate any form of dialogue which would lead to the peaceful settlement of the issue.

Referring to the enactment of AFSPA in the State, the Minister said that every person of the State is abreast with the fact that it was during tenure of patron of a particular party when it was enacted in the State and now they have resorted to blame game.

Sagar said that it is a recorded fact that several massacres including the one at Gowkadal and other during the funeral procession of late Moulana Mirwaiz Farooq took place during the tenure of their patrons term.
