A certified financial planner or CFP is an individual that helps prepare financial plans for individuals. A CFP can assist individuals in a variety of aspects from their personal finances to their professional finances as well as dealing with estate planning. To become a CFP one must first get a certification in finance and take a CFP course. These courses include financial courses and focus on preparing individuals to have careers in Financial Advisory Services.

The CFP course consists of 5 modules that help prepare students for being a certified financial planner and educate them on the basics of finance.
· Module 1: Introduction to Financial Planning
· Module 2: Risk Analysis and Insurance Planning
· Module 3: Retirement Planning and Employee Benefits
· Module 4: Investment Planning
· Module 5: Tax planning and Estate Planning
There are exams for all of the modules except for Module 1. The exams can be taken daily as they are assigned and are computer based. Each exam is 2 hours and a passing grade is 50%. The AFP exam is 4 hours and a passing grade is 50%.
Taking coursework to become a CFP is a great way to either find a career or boost a career in financial planning that you may already have. FPA gives individuals the instruction, coursework, and the tools to become successful CFP.
