Chamarkan Area Of Chitral Known For Tasty Pomegranate

CHITRALr: The picturesque Chamarkan area in Chitral is known in the whole country for its delicious Pomegranate (Anaar)
The tourists and guests visiting the area like its tasty Pomegranate very much. The local people said fruit traders visit the area in large number with the advent of Pomegranate season and transport the fruit to other parts of the country.
The area people also store Pomegranate in up to five feet deep ditches which keep the fruit fresh for about one year.
Ihtesham and Anisur Rehman, who came to the house of their relatives in Chamarkan from Sengor area, said they enjoy eating the Pomegranate and they also take it for their other family members.
Pomegranate in Chamarkan area is very tasty and I like it very much,” Ihtesham said.
Anis said he has specially came to Chamarkan to eat its tasty Pomegranate . He said it is also good for health.
The area people said Pakistan will become self-sufficient in Pomegranate production if the government provides training and financial assistance to farmers.
