Boston Massachusetts. On Thursday the Chicago White Sox traded infielder Gordon Beckham, 27, to the Los Angeles Angels for a player to be named later and cash.
The Angels are currently in first place in the American League West Division. Beckham will have a chance to play on a team that has a great chance of making the postseason in the 2014 Major League Baseball season.
Beckham will be a free agent at the end of the 2015 baseball season. The White Sox are currently in fourth place in the American League Central Division. Beckham has played six seasons with the White Sox since he made his debut in the Major Leagues in 2009.
The White Sox are not in contention to make the postseason in 2014. The White Sox are likely to play their younger players for the rest of the 2014 baseball season.
Beckham will be playing in a reserve role with the Angels as a defensive replacement or a spot starter this baseball season. The White Sox will receive from the Angels in the future so they can rebuild their team for next baseball season.
