Srinagar,December 01, (Scoop News)- General Dalbir Singh, the Chief of Army Staff visited Kashmir today to review the overall security situation obtaining in the Valley. The COAS visited the forward posts in the Tangdhar and Machchal Sectors and the Dagger Division at Baramula,defence spokesman told Scoop News today.
On arrival at Srinagar, the COAS was received by Lt Gen DS Hooda, Northern Army Commander, and Lt Gen Subrata Saha, the Chinar Corps Commander. The COAS then visited the forward posts in Tangdhar and Machchal Sectors and also visited the Dagger Division Headquarters at Baramula. At each location, the COAS was briefed by the Commanders in the field about the situation along the Line of Control and the hinterland,he said.
Spokesman said that the COAS was apprised in detail about the robust counter infiltration grid. He appreciated the effectiveness of the grid and the much higher success rate this year in neutralizing infiltration attempts, which had contributed significantly towards ensuring a secure environment in Kashmir. The COAS inspected the recoveries of weapons, IEDs and caches. The COAS complimented the commanders on the high level of integration achieved with the JKP and CAPF’s and expressed his satisfaction with the efforts put in for resource mobilization, innovative surveillance techniques and other security measures which were showing excellent results. The COAS also interacted with the troops and expressed his happiness at the high state of morale and operational preparedness displayed by them.
