Srinagar, February 08 (Scoop News) –A fire occurred today, around 8.30 am at Basantbagh, Srinagar in which was completely burnt causing death of a girl Naureen (daughter Shoukat Ahmed Dhobi and aged 7 years) and partial damage to 6 houses. One girl Mehreen aged around 8 years and a woman (wife of Farooq Ahmed Dhobhi) received serious injuries and are admitted in the hospital, while three children were discharged after first aid.
Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Dr. Asgar Hassan Samoon directed Honorary Secretary Regional Red Cross Committee Abdul Jabbar Chakat to give Rs 10,000 out of Regional Red Cross funds to each of the seriously injured persons for treatment. Secretary Red Cross alongwith Shazia Kawoos, Shakeel Ahmed and Fayaz Ahmed from State Red Cross visited the injured patients at the SMHS hospital and later distributed relief items such as Mattresses, Blankets, Kitchen sets, ladies suits, children’s clothes and stationery items to the fire sufferers at Basantbagh.
Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner, Srinagar, Baseer Ahmed Khan has sanctioned Rs 37,000 for the fully damaged structure and Rs 7,000 for each of the partially damaged structures. Rs. 10,000 has also been sanctioned for the fully damaged house from District Red Cross funds.
Divisional Commissioner expressed his sympathies with the bereaved families and asked DC Srinagar to expedite the ex-gratia relief in favour of the NOK of the deceased child.
