Although the Government of Bangladesh and civil society organisations are now actively working to increase awareness of child labour and child rights, studies show that the number of child labourers has increased alarmingly over the last few years. An ILO study[1] observes that “the level of awareness on the issue of child labour is still low. Society in general has a rather indifferent attitude towards the problem. In many cases, it is not realised that the children who are employed in, for example, domestic service, often have no access to education or medical care.” The majority of Bangladesh’s population still lacks information about and a good understanding of child labour and its consequences
