Children born in exile holds cultural programme in Kashmir’

Srinagar,June 28  – Around 40 Kashmiri Pandit Children born in exile, enthralled the audience at jam packed Tagore Hall on Sunday  evening in Srinagar. The programme   ‘Mauj Kasheer’, a variety show of Kashmiri Culture  specially designed and , organised  by Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages to showcase the musical talent of the Kashmiri Pandit children born in Jammu and other parts of Country, but also their continuing link with cultural roots in Kashmir.

Abdul Rehim Rather Minister for Finance, Law and Parliamentary Affairs was Chief guest while legislatures M Y Tarigami, Rafeeq Hussain Khan, Vijay Bakaya , eminent Writer and Janianpeth awardee Prof.Rahman Rahi , Zaffar Iqbal Manhas SecretaryAcademy was also present on the occassion

Speaking in his welcome address, Zafar Iqbal Manhas, SecretaryJ&KCulturalAcademy, said that though unfortunate turmoil has resulted into geographical separation of Kashmiri Pandit community from their land of origin but Kashmiris stand united by one common language and culture. He said that in order to provide opportunity to the children born in exile to visit Kashmir, Academy has organized this special show here and we are planning to extend this programme of young Kashmiri Pandit artists in different parts of Kashmir Valley so as to provide them an opportunity to visit land of their ancestors and also interact with their counterparts.

Appreciating the presentation of this special show by the displaced children, Abdul Rahim Rather stated that affection these Kashmiri children with their  mother land has brought him to tears. He said he has not seen such a sizzling and mind-blowing  performance in his whole life and  was highly impressed by the artistic skills and agony expressed by these young to pay tribute to their motherland “Kashmir”.

He hinted that government will come out with a special incentives in the forthcoming Budget for Kashmiri Pandit who are in exile  as they are undergoing a lot of hardships and problems. 

He, lauded the efforts of the Academy in promotion and preservation of the art, culture and languages of the state . He said such efforts will go a long way in keeping cultural richness and diversity of the state alive.

The Minister also announced a cash prize of Rs.2:00 Lacs for the performing artists as a token love and encouragement.

Today’s programme which was witnessed by a full house, saw the audience applauding the young displaced  artists who presented the compositions based on the poetry of Lalla Dyed, Mehjoor, Dina Nath Nadim, Abdul Ahad Azad and Moti Lal Saqi. The lilting musical compositions were composed by Krishan Langoo.
