The Tibetian Leader Dalai Lama`s official website in Chinese language has been a victim of regular hacking attacks since 2011 and this time malware introduced is suspected to be a spying software.
Chinese language website of Dalai Lama, the 78-year-old exiled Spiritual and Political head of Tibet has been compromised and infected . The fact was divulged by a leading security firm Kaspersky Lab. The Dalai Lama fled China to India in 1959 after an unsuccessful uprising against Chinese rule.
Kurt Baumgartner, a researcher at Kaspersky Lab said that he is warning web surfers not to log in the Chinese-language site of the Central Tibetan Administration’s site till this bug is removed by the organization. However, he said that English and Tibetan sites of Dalai Lama are safe.
He told Reuters that the malicious code that is infecting systems of visitors of this site could be used for spying on its viewers.
According to Baumgartner the Chinese-language site of the Central Tibetan Administration is the official site of the Dalai Lama’s government in exile. This site has been under continuous strike from hackers since 2011, but such cracks were immediately identified and repaired.
The hackers automatically place viruses on the operating systems of Apple Mac and Microsoft Windows by exploiting security bugs in Java software of Oracle Corporation.
