Chitral facing of health problems

79 posts of doctors lying vacant at different health units of Chitral.

 

CHITRAL: Some 79 pots of Doctors of different categories including Specialists, Surgeon, Medical Officers, Dental Surgeon, Gynecologists and anesthetists are lying vacant since long. Basic Health Unit of Reshun situated on main Booni road is also running without a doctor while Rural Health Center (RHC) Koghuzi  having no doctors despite sanction of  4 medical officers the hospital is running without any doctor. The hospital having 10 beds at each female and male wards abut both wards are empty because of no doctor while no charge nurse is serving here except a Lady health visitor. The hospital also having operation theater X-ray machine Dental unit but all in vain because of no functioning due to no doctor. Once 2 seriously injured person of a road misshape were rushed to this hospital but there was no doctor.

 

Executive District Officer Health (EDO) Dr. Sher Qayum said that some 79 pots of doctors of different categories are lying laying vacant in different health units of Chitral. He said that before introducing of local government system (devolution of power) we had 7.6 million budget for purchasing of medicines for different hospitals of Chitral but after devolution of power budget for medicines purchase reduced to one third. He said that we have only 2.75 rupees per patients per year in our hospitals where they can not purchase disprin tablet. He said our 4 Ambulance have been parked and having one 16000 rupees only for 3 ambulances per year for maintenance which is impossible. He said that population increasing day by day but our medicine purchase budget was decreased to one fourth as a result patients under treatment in government hospitals are facing numerous problems. He said that the only way to solve health problems is fulfillment of vacant posts immediately and increasing of fund for medicines and maintenance of Ambulances etc. Gul Hamaad Farooqi correspondent APP visited different health units of Chitral who explain detail in his report. EDO health also disclosed that mostly doctors avoiding from posting at Chitral because of more difficulties and low package. He said if they were given special incentive and more facilities (special packages) then they will be ready to serve here otherwise they canceling their posting orders.
