DHQ Hospital Chitral facing acute shortage of staff. 59 posts still vacant since long.
CHITRAL: District Headquarters Hospital (DHQ) Chitral facing acute shortage of staff. Talking to this scribe Medical Superintendent of the hospital Dr. Nazir Ahmad in an exclusive interview said that 59 sanctioned posts of different categories including paramedical staff are lying vacant in the hospital since long as result not only patients facing great hardships but the existing doctors on duty also suffering badly due to burden of work. He said that 2 posts of Medical Officer BPS-19, one post of Gynecologist BPS-19, one post of Anesthetist, 2 posts of Cardiologists, 1 post of Children Specialist, 1 post of Chest specialist, 2 posts of ENT specialists, 1 post of Eye specialist, 1 post of Gynecologist BPS-18, Ten posts of Medical Officer BPS-18, one post of Neurologist nephrologists BPS-18 Two posts of Orthopedic Surgical, 1 post of Pathologist, 1 post of Physiotherapist, 1 post of psychiatrist, 1 post of radiologist, 1 post of Dermatologist, skin specialist, 1 post of Surgical specialist are lying vacant in the hospital. He said that above mentioned posts of Basic Pay Scale 19 and 18. And were sanctioned for category B hospital which was still not fulfilled.
Similarly 1 post of Clinical Technologist of BPS-17, Two posts of Head Nurse, 11 posts of Medical Officers, 1 post of Chief clinical technician pharmacy, BPS-16, Two posts of Male Nurse BPS-14, One post of Senior Clinical Technician Pathology BPS-14, Nine posts of Junior Clinical Technician in different sections are also lying vacant. Besides them two posts of class IV are vacant in the hospital. He said that we time and again sent Schedule of New Expenditure (SNE) sent to health department but these vacant posts were not fulfilled. He said that due to acute shortage of staff especially specialists doctors and medical officer not only patients facing numerous problems but doctors on duty also badly suffering due to overburden of work. Meanwhile President Legal Aid Forum for Human Rights (LAFH) Chitral Abdul Nasir expressed great concern over the apathy of health department. He said that Chitral is a isolated district which remain disconnect from other parts of the country in winter season due to heavy snowfall and patients are facing great problems. He also criticized doctors working in down districts and urged on health department for posting of these Doctors back to Chitral who working in other parts of the country because outsiders and non local staff hesitate to join duty in Chitral He strongly demanded for fulfillment of 59 vacant posts of DHQ Hospital Chitral immediately so as to give relief to downtrodden inhabitants of Chitral.
