"One must never choose an unethical man or woman to be a leader," says Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
Dr Mahathir Mohamad who is the former Prime Minister of Malaysia is well known for calling ‘a spade-a spade". He was famous for being sarcastic, sharp-tongued and never running away from debates.
He was speaking to reporters in Putrajaya after attending an official function. With the twelfth General elecion just around the corner the most favourite topics in Malaysia are those having connections with the oncoming election.
Dr Mahathir said that there are groups of people insisting on using the most unethical methods including violence to achieve their aim, that is of grabbing power.
Dr Mahathir then listed out several characteristics and values needed in a good leader.
A good leader should not be boastful and not tell lies.
A good leader should be ready to uphold his responsibility yet should also refrain from being too forceful.
A good leader should be ready to acknowledge his weakness snd accepts failure.
A good leader should be true to himself and not expect flatters from his people.
Managing people and situation is another area that should be mastered by anyone who is accidentally chosen to be a leader.
A leader must be more intelligent than those who supported him or her.
There are other minor tips elucidated by Dr Mahathir. He, however, insisted on the few as stated above to be the most important.
So, for fellow Malaysian, Pakistanis,Kenyan and not the least fellow Americans, dream on the tips above.
