The United Kingdom (UK) based Christian philanthropic organization, Open Doors (www. opendoorsuk.org) has continued to provide succor to displaced Christians in Syria who are caught up in the crisis that has devastated the country for some time now.
In a statement by its Communication Department, it noted that before the recent escalation of violence, many Christians from Homs and other conflict areas had fled to Damascus, where they found temporary housing and comfort in attending church services.
It said that in order to encourage these refugees and to give them the opportunity to meet one another and share experiences, local churches have been organizing special services.
“An Open Doors team involved in relief work in the area recently visited one of these services, and heard the Syrian pastor exhorting the congregation,” it stated.
It continued: "Seeing the smiling faces, hearing the laughter and talking, it was clear that this service had met a need of the refugees, how great that the church could offer them this special night!"
The Group admonished Christians to: “Use our Arab World prayer sheets to pray for Christians in Syria and other Arab World countries during Ramadan.”
“Please pray that Christians in Syria will continue to put their faith in the Lord. For a peaceful solution to the 16-month uprising which has resulted in so much violence and that many Muslims will find Jesus as they pray and fast during Ramadan,” it further stated.
