Fomer CIA spy tells all about corruption and waste at the Agency.
In her book, “Blowing my cover – My life as a CIA spy”, by Lindsey Morgan describes the use of taxpayer funds for such nefarious purposes as purchasing alcohol and lap dances at tittie bars in Kazakhstan for Kazakh Intelligence officers.
Kazakhstan (Kazakh: Қазақстан Qazaqstan, Russian: Казахстан [kəzɐxˈstan]), officially the Republic of Kazakhstan. It has borders with (clockwise from the north) Russia, China, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, and Turkmenistan, and also adjoins a large part of the Caspian Sea (source: Wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kazakhstan).
The Kazakh Foreign Intelligence Service (Kazakh: Қазақстан Республикасының «Сырбар» сыртқы барлау қызметі “Syrbar” syrtky barlau kyzmeti or just Syrbar) is Kazakhstan’s primary external intelligence agency. The Syrbar is the successor of the Barlau Department in the National Security Committee of the Republic of Kazakhstan since February 2009. An agreement on intelligence cooperation between USA and Kazakhstan was signed in 2010.
This secret treaty covers cooperation of the CIA with the Kazakh Intelligence Service, and included lap dances at tittie bars?
According to the CIA case officer:
“The CIA chief in Almaty took advantage of my fleeting tenure at Headquarters to propose a trip for our counterparts in the Kazakh Intelligence Service. For their visit, I was told to make hotel reservations and research entertainment possibilities – specifically, area tittie bars.
Planning the visit was a lot of work and none of it particularly glamorous: making countless hotel and dinner reservations, chartering business – although for tamer – activities for the Kazakh wives during the nocturnal tittie bar runs. I was a cross between a glorified girl Friday and a pimp.
Afterward, the chief in Almaty emailed my boss at Headquarters in praise of my efforts. He reported that the Kazakhs got dunk and ate big steaks and enjoyed countless taxpayer funded lap dances while their oblivious wives indulged themselves in the hotel hot tub and relished mountains of cloths they purchased each day from The Gap.
“The trip was a raging success”, the chief wrote. “Due in no small part to the efforts at your diligent and able new trainee. It goes without saying that she has a promising future in our organization” (pg 48-49).
