CIADP kicked waste management cleanliness campaign at Shandor

CHITRAL: Chitral Integrated Area Development Program (CIADP) kicked waste management cleanliness drive at Shandor the highest polo ground of the world situated on some 12500 feet from sea level. Shandor polo festival organizing every year in July but due to Ramazan this festival was held in June.
Thousands of tourists including foreigners reach the scenic valley to enjoy the colorful events of polo tournament, culture show, paragliding and other traditional and local games. Hence on concluding the 3 days festival tourists put large number of garbage and wastages in the ground causing for polluting the environment. As this is also pasture of Laspur people. In past these wastage causing for killing of live stock who grazing here because there was no proper arrangement of disposing of these wastages.
CIADP in collaboration with Shandor Welfare Organization kicked waste management cleanliness drive and disposed off these wastage after proper segregation. CIADP also arranged musical and culture show at night to enthrall the tourists and to promote local culture and held a free medical camp for facilitating and treatment of tourists coming to Shandor.
Dr Farooq of DHQ Hospital told this scribe that we examining some 350 patients on daily basis and providing them free medicines. As well as they also breathing Oxygen to patients who suffering from lack of Oxygen due to situated on high altitude.
Anwar Baig a spokesman of CIADP told that we collect this waste, garbage and dump them properly to not spread in this beautiful ground and to save its environment from polluting.
Social and political circle of Chitral highly hailed this step of CIADP for launching cleanliness campaign (waste management) disposing off. Cleanliness campaign will be continuing for more 3 days to dispose off the garbage and to save the natural lake of Shandor from polluting by these wastages.
