Take Sheridan Smith’s voice
Take Beatles’ music and combine it with the 60s Liverpool atmosphere.
Mix everything and close your eyes. Once you’ll open them you will find yourself in front of a three episodes series in a perfect British pop style.
Priscilla Maria Veronica White, turned into Cillia Black, was a longshorman’s daughter and always had passion for music. Fond of local groups she found a job like cloakroom at Cavern Club in Liverpool, the place where Beatles used to perform at their beginning. She made a deep friendship with John Lennon from which Cilla took advantage becoming a member of Brian Epstein’s team. But the Cavern Club did not give her only a friendship with John Lennon but also love for the young singer and writer Bobby Willis. Success arrived in 1964 with Burt Bacharach and Hal David’s “Anyone who had a heart”.
After the fortuitous Brian Epstein’s death, Bobby Willis was Cilla’s manager for over 30 years until his death, because of a cancer, in 1999 at 57 years old.
Written by Jeff Pope and broadcasted through ITV Studios, Cilla has the ability to let us live, in an empathic way, into the vintage tonalities of the 60s
Since the first moment one feels like connected with that world that in only 45 minutes will enter into our lives. Sheridan’s voice creates and destroys the souls of the television-viewers letting them catatonic and in love in front of the screen.
Aunerin Barnard’s tidy face, blond for the occasion, pay tribute to Bobby Willis, making him live again on the screen the way he was, committed and in love, whose memories bring a lump to our throat.
Very well identified in the role also Tom Dunlea (all is by my side), Michael Hawkins ( at the debut with Cilla), Jack Farthing ( Posh), and Kevin Mains (Outlander) respectively Ringo Starr, George Harrison, John Lennon and Paul McCartney.
Impeccable Ed Stoppard who gives Brian Epstein back to life, melancholy and engaged.
The memory of he 60s has never died the same way that music is still alive nowadays. Cilla DVD will be available on Amazon starting from 6th October 2014 if you love this genre or if you are only interested in coming back to the atmospheres of the swinging London.
“Your My World, You Are My Night And Day
you’re My World, You’re Every Prayer I Pray
if Our Love Ceases To Be
then Its The End Of My World For Me“
[You’re my world- Cilla Black. 1964 ]
