On November 6th, I had the opportunity to join a panel of innovators in web video— from the Washington Post, Thirteen/PBS and MTV News. GroundReport was there to represent where citizen journalism video is headed, and how the format has transformed the story-telling process.
In looking at the most succesful videos on GroundReport, there is at least one common thread: the narrator as active element in the story arc.
Below, two of our best examples of the deepened relationship between reporter and audience: live video of a Beijing protest from deported journalist Noel Hidalgo, and serialized narratives from Wendy Stackhouse of her experience on election day.
Livestreamed, On-the-Ground Video: Noel Hidalgo — 30, NYC Organizer
Live Video of Protest for Tibetan Freedom in Tiananmen Square
Serialized personal narratives with strong storytelling components: Wendy Stackhouse — Stay-at-home mom, CA
