Srinagar, October 22 (Scoop News) – One day workshop on Civil Defence and Disaster Management was organised at District HQ Pulwama which was inaugurated by Addl. DG Police, Civil Defence, Home Guards and Auxiliary Police, Dr Ram Lubhaya. Deputy Commissioner Pulwama Shafaat Noor Barlas and DIG, Civil Defence, Mubarak Ahmed Ganai were also present. The workshop was also attened by Chief Medical Officer Pulwama, Asst Director Fire Services and a large number of Civil Defence volunteers, prominent citizens and officers from District Administration Pulwama and officer from Police.
In his address, Dr Ram Lubhaya said that preparing community in disaster preparedness will go a long way in mitigating the disasters. He informed that large numbers of youth are being trained in fire fighting, first aid, search and rescue. He urged the general public to join Civil Defence and take the advantage of the trainings being imparted by the trained staff at each District Hqrs and Block level.
DIG, Civil Defence said that the aim of Civil Defence is to save lives and minimize damage to property and to boost the morale of public during any disaster.
Those who spoke on the occasion include Dr. Anayatullah Chief Warden Baramulla, Dr. Naqashbandi, Dr. IPS Bali, Assistant Director Fire Services Pulwama, Chief Medical Officer Pulwama. Deputy Controller, Civil Defence Pulwama presented a vote of thanks to the participants of the workshop.
