Experts shed light on the significance of Civil Defence & necessity for Disaster Mitigation for natural & manmade disasters. They stressed on the need to initiate these programmes also at public level. Tufail Shafi, Tabassum Farid and Junaid Farooq students of the Institute spoke about need for Disaster Preparedness. A skit on Disaster Mitigation was presented by students of class 8th led by student Fatima Siraj.
Principal of the Institute, Mohammed Shafi and Vice Principal Mrs. Madina presented vote of thanks. Touseef Dhar, Geography teacher of the Institute, supervised the entire programme. Students trained in Disaster preparedness were endowed with certificates by the dignitaries. Ms. Azhar Jeelani was the Anchor of the programme on the occasion.
A mock drill was held by Civil Defence Trainers Mr Abdul Gaffar and Mr Bashir Ahmed. One student Syed Fuzair of class 9th was pretended to be rescued from a three storied building with the help of ropes. The students were also acquainted with the use of fire extinguishers in case of fire incidents. The students and teachers keenly participated in the programme and appreciated Civil Defence for having organized such an educative programme and urged for organizing more such programmes in future, so that the students community in particular and public in general are made aware of the hazards and measures required to be taken for its mitigation.
