Udhampur, November 10, (Scoop News)-A Civil-Military Liaison Conference (CMLC) will be held on Tuesday at Nagrota near Jammu, the winter capital of Jammu and Kashmir, a defence spokesman said.
The conference will be presided over by chief minister, Omar Abdullah,and attended by, Lt Gen Sanjiv Chachra, the General Officer Commanding-in-Chief (GOC in C), Northern Command besides other Senior Civil and Military officials.
The CMLC is aimed at developing synergy, understanding and better coordination between the Civil administration and the Army. The Army is assisting the civil administration in maintaining of peace, security and well being of the people in the state.
During the day long conference, Civil and Defence officials are likely to dwell on issues pertaining to land, welfare of Veterans (Ex- servicemen) & Veer Naris and training areas for soldiers. The CMLC will be helpful in further strengthening the working relationship
between the Army and Civil officials and assist in resolution of a host of issues some of which have been long outstanding.
The last CMLC was hosted by the state administration at Jammu on September 19, 2009. As is customary, this CMLC is being hosted by the Army.In preparation for this meeting, Army authorities have already conducted a series of Pre-CMLC meetings to finalise essential agenda points. The participants are looking forward to a meaningful and positive outcome of CMLC in resolving several issues of mutual interest, essential for development of the state of J&K as well as the welfare of Army troops serving in the State.
