Landover Maryland. First year Cleveland Browns head coach Mike Pettine has not named his starting quarterback. The quarterback competition is between six year veteran Brian Hoyer, 28, versus rookie Johnny Manziel, 21.
Pettine said in an interview with Peter King of TheMMQB.com website he will review the tape of the second preseason game to determine who will be the starting quarterback of the Browns when the regular season begins on September 7.
The Pittsburgh Steelers will be hosting the Browns to open the 2014 National Football League regular season. If I were Pettine, I would have Hoyer start the season as his starting quarterback since he has more experience playing in the league than Manziel does.
I guess Manziel has figured out that the National Football League level of competition is a lot tougher than playing in the college ranks. Manziel has admitted he is not ready to make his National Football League debut versus the Pittsburgh Steelers. Could you blame the football that is nicknamed Johnny Football for making that statement?
The Browns will be hosting the St Louis Rams this Saturday.
