Clinton Vows To Withdraw US Troops From Iraq, ‘No Matter What’

While campaigning in Haverford, Pennsylvania, Democratic co-frontrunner Senator Hillary Clinton of New York has decided to address the issue of Iraq. So far, Iraq has been the main platform of presumed GOP presidential nominee Senator John McCain of Arizona.

In regards to Iraq, Clinton said that she would start the troop withdrawals within the first sixty days of becoming United States President. She said that she would withdraw troops despite what her military advisers will say. This is an indication that Clinton has attempted to stick her sword in the ground in regards to Iraq.

Clinton was addressing a mainly female crowd at the small liberal arts school called Haverford College. She explains: “What if the military commanders tell you its dangerous to withdraw? The question is backwards. The president tells the military commanders what the mission is.”

During the debate, Clinton said she would withdraw the troops. She has given the indication that she would withdraw troops; even if it means causing Iraq to become destabilized.

In regards to Iraq, the estimated cost of the war is at least $12 billion a month, according to Nobel Prize-winning economist Joseph E. Stiglitz.

Also, two US Senators back in March had requested a congressional investigation into Iraq’s oil revenues to see if the government can use the profits from oil to pay for the rest of the reconstruction. The money used so far to finance Iraq’s reconstruction has come out of the pockets of US taxpayers.

According to a study by the Pentagon back in early March says that the major factor that is hurting reconstruction is the threat to security. Corruption has been blamed for the security situation.

In the case of Clinton making her stance on Iraq, it is unknown on how she will fare in Pennsylvania. A recent poll by Washington Post/ABC News reveals that voters’ trust in Clinton is fading away.
