New Delhi is again under the spell of terrorism .Top police officials link the arrest of a suspected suicide scout of Hizbul Mujahedeen terror group to his two colleagues who have not been caught so far. Though, police is vigorously hunting for his two companions but they are still at large.
This alert came after the arrest of a 47 year old Syed Liquate Shah on March 20 from Gorakhpur UP. He was remanded to 15 day`s police custody by a city court In New Delhi
It was during his interrogation police found out that two of his companions were walking free in the city well trained to attack commercial hubs here.
The sources close to police revealed that one of the two free militants met him and other was staying in room no 304 of the three-storey Hazi Arafat Guest House in Jama Masjid to provide more logistics and directions to Shah for further action. It was confirmed that on March 20 a five feet eight with a red cap man with a back pack in his early 30s booked a room at 4 p.m. in this guest house. Around 7 P.M. the second man came to meet him and later both left around 8 p.m. in the evening.
On March 21, the police raided the guest house and found all the visitors except one in 304 in their rooms. When the suspected person did not return till late in the night, the raiding team opened the room in the presence of the guest house manager.
Special Commissioner of Police (Special Cell) said that they recovered an AK-56 assault rifle, three hand grenades, two magazines each carrying 30 rounds (cartridges), 220 gm. explosives, a map of Delhi and a memory card from that room.
Shah who had come to India from Karachi through Kathmandu was to draw up a workable plan selecting the places for terror strike where maximum casualties could be inflicted in Delhi.
