Doda/Jammu,September 22 (Scoop News) -Immediately after reaching Doda and Kishtwar unprecedented number of deputations comprising thousands of people, met with Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah. Deputy Chief Minister, Tara Chand and Legislative members of the respective areas accompanied the Chief Minister.
It was the gathering of multitudes of various personalities of Doda and Kishtwar, Imams of the mosques and shrines, business community of the respective areas, traders associations, educationists, Phari Development Forum, Prestigious Lawyers of the Bar Association, representatives of Action Committee for Development of Chenab Valley, Doda Welfare Society Sanatan Dharm Sabhas, Pahari Development Forum, Kishtwar, Gurdawara Prabandak Committee, Kishtawr, Rajput Sabha, and SC Sabha, who called on the Chief Minister. The Chief Minister interacted with each association in detail.
Various political, social, trade and religious deputations called on the Chief Minister at Doda and Kishtwar and presented memoranda of their demands. The Chief Minister gave them patient hearing and assured sympathetic consideration by the Government.
While addressing large number of deputations of civil society at Doda and Kishtwar today the Chief Minister said that issues can only be discussed and addressed through dialogue in a peaceful atmosphere. “Sustained interactions are must to move ahead purposefully to settle issues amicably”, he added.
Omar said peace and tranquility was imperative for both political and economic development in the State and every one of us has to contribute in this direction. He said violence and disruption of law and order only creates hurdles and results in loss of precious lives and damage to public property.
Expressing deep sorrow over the loss of precious lives during the disturbances in the Valley, the Chief Minister appealed to the people to cooperate with the government in restoring normalcy and moving ahead on the path of addressing political issues in a political manner. “We are committed to facilitate dialogues between the Centre and various shades of political opinion in the State and help work out amicable solution to all issues as per the aspirations of the people of
The Chief Minister lauded the people of Doda and Kishtwar for maintaining calm and not falling prey to the nefarious designs of mischief mongers. He asked them to keep constant vigil on such elements and act in coordination with administration in foiling any design aimed at disturbing peace and communal harmony in the twin districts of Doda and Kishtwar.
On development, Omar said despite law and order problem in the Valley, government is trying its best to carry forward its development agenda smoothly and address grievances of people promptly.
The Chief Minister said that various projects have been launched in the districts of Doda and Kishtwar to upgrade the facilities in health, education, R&B, PHE, power and other sectors and improve basic amenities. He said fast track development of hilly backward and far-flung areas has been focused as one of the most important concerns in the development policy of the government. “The administration in these areas has been sensitized to deliver on ground and ensure that the benefits of the schemes reach to the people at grass roots”, he said.
The Chief Minister reviewed the progress on various development works in the twin districts of Doda and Kishtwar at district officers meetings which were also attended by the District Development Commissioners. The Chief Minister was briefed about the progress on various development projects and apprised about the pace of work.
The Chief Minister directed the district administration in the both the districts to take all measures to complete the works within the prescribed timeline and reach out to the people in every area for redressal of their genuine grievances.
