Manhas said that one case of corruption after the other has been surfacing in the state having direct involvement of ministers. Instead of taking action against these ministers, the Chief Minister is shielding them, which is indeed unfortunate. He said that the tenure of Omar led present coalition will be remembered as black period in the history of post independence in J&K as his government has least concern for the welfare of masses, development, employment, redressal of the grievances of the employees, senior citizens, refugees, women, farmers and so on. Instead of focussing on the proper working of their respective departments for the public, the ministers in the government are in a race to become millionaires overnight by adopting all means. Promotion of dynastic rule is other agenda of Congress , NC and PDP, he alleged.
National Executive Member & Jammu East MLA Ashok khajuria said that how unfortunate it is that the four generations of the tenants of Evacuees property have perished agitating for the last 60 years for grant of ownership rights. Every time before elections they are given assurances, but after assuming power nothing is done to meet their genuine demands. He said that being elected representative of the constituency which houses the population of these people, their issue has been repeatedly raised by him in the assembly but still government do not care.
Senior journalist and prominent social activist Sohail Qazmi, , who had been invited as special guest, said that although he has no association with any political party but deemed it his duty to use this opportunity for conveying the people of different faiths that we need to shower our blessings to a person like Rajesh Gupta, whose work as corporator left a mark in the minds of al the sections of the society.
Rajesh Gupta said that ward No.5 is a “guldasta” of social hormony and brotherhood. With the blessings of each community, “I got an opportunity to represent this ward in Jammu Municipal corporation for five years and worked in an impartial manner as a result of which this ward has achieved the distinction of being most developed. He said declared that he will continue to work with same commitment and sincerity in future too.
