The college basketball season began a couple of months ago, but it’s not until all the pre-season tournaments and all the non-conference cake-walk games are over that the ‘real’ season begins. Well, it’s 2009 now and it’s time to start preparing for March Madness.
As a UNC Tarheel fan, I am quite pleased with the way things are sitting right now. The ‘Heels are by far the best team in the nation so far and continue to prove that each game. But now it’s time for ACC play and, as always, there will be plenty of tests throughout the regular season.
Ok, now onto 5 quick thoughts regarding this season:
1. The Big East appears to have the toughest conference this year. 7 teams in the top 25 right now!!
2. The defending champs, KU, are going to have an up and down year. Very young, filled with mistakes, but also filled with potential.
3. Who’s the cinderella team this year? Utah State?
4. I still hate the ‘raised floors’ that are used in the big arena. Why? They are trying to turn College Basketball into the monster that College Football has become.
5. Right now, the ‘Heels have to be the favorites to win it all. No one can touch them….yet. They will keep getting better but so will everybody else. Then you never know what happens in March!!
