Kaminsky named Big Ten Player of the Week
Senior posted Big Ten-leading fifth double-double Sunday
MADISON, Wis. – Frank Kaminsky of the No. 4 Wisconsin men’s basketball team was named Big Ten Player of the Week, as announced by the conference office Monday.
Kaminsky averaged 19.5 points, 9.5 rebounds and 3.5 blocks per game, which was a big factor in UW earning a pair of wins and beginning its season 12-1 for just the third time under head coach Bo Ryan.
The Lisle, Illinois, native recorded his Big Ten-leading fifth double-double of the season against Buffalo, tallying a game-high 25 points and 11 rebounds. Kaminsky stuffed the rest of his stat line with six blocks, two assists and one steal against the Bulls.
Earlier in the week at Cal, the 7-footer tallied 14 points and eight rebounds to help the Badgers earn a 68-56 win in Berkeley.
This is the second Big Ten Player of the Week honor for Kaminsky this season and the fourth of his career. He was named Co-Big Ten Player of the Week on Nov. 24.
Kaminsky leads Wisconsin in scoring (16.5), rebounding (7.9), blocks (28) and steals (15), while also ranking second on the team in field-goal percentage (.533) and third in assists (28).
Wisconsin opens Big Ten play against Penn State at the Kohl Center on Wednesday at 12 p.m. (CT).
