Goldey-Beacom Men’s Basketball Falls, 83-74, at Adelphi
Goldey-Beacom enjoyed a great shooting night, but Adelphi had a slightly better night and it was enough to hand the visitors an 83-74 loss in Garden City, NY.
The Lightning scratched their way within 62-55 with 8:11 left when freshman Daniel Cooper (Homestead, FL) made a layup. But the Panthers scored the next seven points in just over two minutes to open a 69-55 cushion with 5:56 left. Michael Coffey scored five points in that spurt that began with a huge 3-pointer.
Senior Chris Gebhart (Cherry Hill, NJ) once again continued to be a force in the paint with a season-best 25 points to go with 11 rebounds for his fifth double-double of the season and third straight. He also shot 12-of-14 from the floor, helping the Lightning hit an impressive 52 percent (29-of-56) from the field.
Junior Domineek Owens (Philadelphia, PA) netted 20 points to fall one short of his second best and added six rebounds for Goldey-Beacom (3-6). Senior Joey Getz (Philadelphia, PA) added eight points.
Duane Morgan had 20 points and 10 rebounds, Coffey poured in 12 points and Boris Fodouop added 10 for the Panthers (4-5), who shot 53 percent (28-of-53) from the floor and hit seven 3-pointers.
Goldey-Beacom is back on the road Saturday at Kutztown, starting at 7:00 pm.
