There are three more College Bowl games today as the Bowl Season moves steadily along. So far eight games have been played with twenty six still to be played and the BCS Title Game to finish the Bowl Season on January 8, 2009.
All the games have a payday for the schools with of course the biggest and best Bowl Games receiving the largest amounts. This year there are five games with a payout of $17,000,000 for each game. The Rose, Orange, Sugar and Fiesta Bowl’s and the BCS Title Game, each command the $17 Million.
All other Bowl Game teams split amounts from $300,000 to $3.2 Million.
With a total of 34 Bowl Games there are naturally 68 teams that have an opportunity to play a final game after the regular season to show their skills and school pride. May seem to be a little too much to the average viewer, but to the players and schools it is anything but that.
Everyone who follows College Football has an opinon on the BCS Ranking and the want for a playoff system. With the Bowl season starting on December 20,2008 and ending on January 8,2009 the chance of seeing a playoff system seems to be an option to consider. Add another week at the start and you have almost a full month for a playoff system. Something to consider and a real possibility if the powers that are would get serious about it. The Networks, Schools and of course money will be the deciding factor. Looks like the money, number of games and teams are in place. A little imagination and it will be done…maybe!
It is what it is right now, so I will enjoy the games and hope for something new in the future.
Looking forward to the Rose Bowl for sure, Penn State-USC.
