Corvallis, Ore. – The 18th-ranked Oregon State wrestling team will compete in the Aloha Open on Tuesday, its final tournament of the regular season.

The four-team event will be held at the McKinley High School Student Council Gymnasium. It will also include No. 2 Minnesota, Oklahoma and American University.

A round-robin format will be used so every wrestler at a specific weight will wrestle every other competitor in his class, regardless of previous wins and losses. Those with the best records will be declared champion, and also qualify for an offseason trip with Team USA to international competition.

The Beavers (3-0, 2-0 Pac-12), who tied Stanford for second at the Reno Tournament of Champions on Dec. 21 in their most recent competition, are the only Pacific-12 Conference team in the latest USA Today/NWCA Division I Top 25 Coaches Poll. Stanford also received votes but did not make the Top 25.

Three Beavers who will compete on Tuesday are ranked in their respective weight classes by The Open Mat or InterMat.

  • Senior 157-pounder Alex Elder (18-6) debuted at No. 20 in The Open Mat’s and InterMat’s rankings after placing second at Reno.
  • Senior 184-pounder Taylor Meeks (20-3), who also placed second at Reno, is ranked No. 6 by The Open Mat and by InterMat.
  • Freshman 125-pounder Ronnie Bresser (20-4) dropped three spots to No. 12 in The Open Mat’s poll. He remained No. 13 in InterMat’s rankings.

The Beavers resume Pac-12 action with a Jan. 10, 2015, home dual against Stanford.
