Corvallis, Ore. – The Oregon State wrestling team remained No. 17 in this week’s USA Today/NWCA Division I Top 25 Coaches Poll, released on Tuesday by the National Wrestling Coaches Association.
The Beavers (2-0, 1-0 Pac-12), who finished 10th last weekend at the prestigious Cliff Keen Las Vegas tournament, are the only Pacific-12 Conference team in the Top 25. Stanford also received votes but did not make the Top 25.
Iowa received eight of the 12 first-place votes and remained No. 1, followed by Minnesota, Cornell, Penn State and Missouri. The USA Today/NWCA Division I Coaches Poll is voted on by a team’s dual strength, not projected tournament points.
The Beavers were also ranked No. 20 by InterMat this week, down one spot from the previous poll.
Two Beavers are ranked in their respective weight classes by The Open Mat and InterMat.
- Senior 184-pounder Taylor Meeks (15-2) is ranked No. 5 by The Open Mat and No. 6 by InterMat. He placed second at the Cliff Keen event..
- Freshman 125-pounder Ronnie Bresser (15-2) debuted at No. 13 in the InterMat rankings and moved up three spots to No. 13 in The Open Mat’s poll. He placed seventh at Cliff Keen.
The Beavers resume Pac-12 action at Boise State at 6 p.m. Saturday in Round 1 of the annual Border War.
