Colombian Journalist Forced into Exile by Death Threats Jun 21, 2007 | Media & Tech Share Tweet Pin G Plus Email June 12, 2007 Jenny Manrique was a regional correspondent in Bucaramanga for Colombian newspaper Vanguardia Liberal investigating paramilitary activity when she began to receive threats on her life. After her family was threatened, Ms. Manrique approached journalist protection nonprofit Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) and asked for help. Since leaving the country, she has received numerous awards for her courage and service and now studies international affairs in Buenos Aires. On June 12, 2007 Jenny Manrique recounted her experience at CPJ headquarters in New York City.
