Kodaikanal in the taluk division of Dindigul district of state of Tamil Nadu means “The Gift of the Forest.” It is referred to as the princess of hill stations by a section of the people. It is also called the princess of hills.
 
Palaiyar people were the earliest tribes who inhabited Kodaikanal. It is situated at 6998 feet above sea level between the Parappar and Gundar valleys. It has a number of scenic attraction which draw tourists from India and abroad. Kodaikanal Lake was built in 1863 and consists of 60 acres. Rawboats and pedalos are hired to enjoy its beauty.
 
Bryant Park is a wonderfully maintained botanical garden in the vicinity. A forest officer, HD Bryant planned the park. There is a 1857 Eucalyptus tree and Bodhi tree which add religious significance to the park. Coaker’s walk is another romantic path. It was constructed by Lt. Coaker in 1872. On a clear day one can view the Dolphin’s nose in the south and the valley of the Pambar river in the southeast and even the city of Madurai.
 
Green valley view is another steep point in Kodaikanal, which is also called suicide point. It has excellent view of the plains and Vaighai dam in the vicinity at a drop of 4900 feet. Pine forests in the vicinity attract the tourists. Pine plantations were started by HD Bryant in the late 1880s.
 
There is a Kodaikanal Solar Obervatory, 6 km from the Bus Stand. It was shaped by director John Evershed. The Kodaikanal Terrestrial telescope can provide panoramic view of Vaigai Dam, Sothupparai dam, Periyakulum river and Varaha river.
 
 
There are three beautiful pillar rocks near the bus stand, there are Guna caves in the vicinity. There is a silver cascade, a kind of waterfall formed as outflow of Kodaikanal lake. There is Dolphin’s nose, a flat rock which charms the viewers.
 
Kodaikanal is connected with Coimbatore by road within a distance of 170 km, with Madurai at a distance of 134 km. Kodaikanal can also be reached from Ooty or Mysore. November December during winter and April May during summer are the peak seasons suitable to visit Kodaikanal.  Visitors should visit this romantic hill station of South India.

1) Worked as the Branch Manager of Golden Trust Financial Services, Siliguri, India for 6 months from Dec 2000.


Golden trust Financial Services deal with 3 types of insurance policies, personal


accident scheme, Mediclaim Scheme and Amartya Siksha Yojana. As a branch


Manager I had to convince clients about period of the policies, legal factors to be

2) Practiced as Advocate in both civil and criminal cases in Bankshall court, (CMM


Court), Calcutta from April 2001 for 6 months. Types of cases handled range from divorce suits, restitution of conjugal rights, and offences against property like Criminal misappropriation, breach of trust to cheating. Further civil suits included easements, cases on West Bengal premises tenancy Act and West Bengal Apartment Ownership Act. Further have drafted sale deeds of flats obtained within Calcutta Municipal Corporation and Baranagar Municipality. Also made agreements between parties on sale of immoveable property.





3) Worked as Lecturer of NUJS, Calcutta for 4 years. Joined NUJS as Research Assistant and worked as Assistant Lecturer for a year. Subjects handled include Indian Penal Code (Criminal Law – 1), Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC), Civil Procedure Code (CPC), Property Law, Corporate Law and Clinical Legal Education. The Principal Secretary, Consumer Affairs Department, Mr. Pradeep Bhattacharya, has reviewed the research paper and presently it has been published by NUJS as working paper series –11.


5) Involved in a Project granted by the Consumer Affairs Department. There are 3 parts of the project. Prepared a Compendium ( Handbook) on Consumer friendly laws. While Mrs. Rumi Chatterji presented the songs “shiv shambhu kalian tumhi ho”, “namami”, “humko manki shakti dena”, “allah teroh naam”, etc., Souvik Chatterji presented “man re tu kahe na dhir dhare”, “wo duniya ke rakhwale”, “sukhke sab saathi”, etc. The entire program was reported in local newspaper of Rajasthan.





Accompanied Smt. Rumi Chatterji with Keyboard during Radio Recording of Sugam Sangeet in April, 2010. The songs which were played in the KeyBoard included “bolo raat bolo tum kaha”, “payoji maine ramratan dhan payiyo”, and “katon ki chubhan payee”.





Adjudicated the Raga Session of Eastern Classical Music of inter-college Cultural Fest Titled NH 65 held in National Law University Jodhpur as Judge from 7th to 10th October, 2010. Participants from National Law Universities and other reputed Institutions across India participated in the Cultural and Literary Fest.
