Katra/Jammu, October 18(Scoop News)- A colorful procession of holy palanquin of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Ji, attractive tableaux depicting varied shades of rich cultural heritage and the folk troupes attired in their traditional dresses marked the beginning of the 3rd day of festival.
Minister of State for Cooperative, Finance, Dr. Manohar Lal Sharma who was the special guests on the occasion lit the sacred Jyoti at Asia Crossing Katra, the starting point of the procession. The procession after passing through various bazaars of the town, culminated at Government Higher Secondary School, Katra.
Enroute, devotees of the town and other parts of the country were seen showering petals on the procession and raising slogans in praise of Mata Vaishno Devi Ji.
A scintillating cultural performances presented by the artists of Song and Drama Division, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (GOI) spellbound a large crowd including thousands of pilgrims from within and outside the State during the ongoing Navratra festival- 2012 at Government Higher Secondary School, Katra, last evening.
The artists of the department attired in their traditional costumes presented sparkling folk dance performances of different regions of the country.
Folk songs and dances of different parts of the country which received huge applause from across the audience mainly included Ladakhi, Dogri dances.
