A 34-year-old new mum is unexpectedly celebrating Christmas at home with her baby son whose birth more than six months ago put her in a coma.
Lisa Allinson suffered a massive stroke after giving birth to Benjamin in a northwest England hospital in June and had to be placed on a life support machine.
With her husband Andy keeping vigil by her side, doctors operated to remove half her skull in an attempt to save her life.
Six weeks later, Mrs Allinson stunned her family and doctors by waking up.
However, she was paralysed, unable to speak and had no memory of giving birth to Benjamin or much else.
After making good progress, doctors have allowed Mrs Allinson to return to her home in Bolton, Lancashire, to spend Christmas with her family.
