“Come Sit By Me, We’ll Sip Wine”

Poetry from Barbara Kasey Smith’s Corner of the World

She sits among the beauty in the field,
eyes set on scenery, alive, stirring and real.
Her eyes, sapphires, on a hand of loveliness,
dimples define her cheeks, a striking smartness.
A body of curves pose, hands folded in her lap…grace,
a notable eagle, perched to take a nap.

I’m a devotee to her at this moment in time;
my heart flutters, a wish she could be mine.
I’ve faith in this feeling she causes in me,
I hope she’ll see my face is set on thee.
Her smile instigates words from my lips,
“Come sit by me, this wine we’ll sip.”

Winds blow her blonde hair in the breeze,
a picturesque picture I hope to freeze.
A titillating experience runs through my veins,
a glitter of hope, a longing, to offer her my name.
I’ll long for her until there’s “no” confidence left,
I’ll find a recessing will be a long hard test.
