New Delhi, February 21, (Scoop News)_Command Hospital, Northern Command (NC), has won the coveted Raksha Mantri Trophy (2nd Best Hospital) for its professional excellence, foresight and innovations In patients care, a defence official told Scoop News by phone.
The competition was held among all command hospitals including Air Force and Navy across India for the year 2013.
The official said the coveted runners up trophy was awarded to Maj Gen Bipin Puri, commandant command hospital in a glittering ceremony held at South Block, Ministry of Defemce (MoD), by Union Defence Minister in the presence of the Chiefs of Tri services, DGAFMS and other senior dignitaries of the MoD and the three services.
The Defence Minister Trophy was instituted in 1989 to identify and acknowledge excellence in patient care and hospital management among Command and equivalent hospitals of the Army, Navy and Air Force.
The selection committee visited the seven Command & equivalent hospitals and evaluated them on a number of parameters including workload, services provided, available infrastructure, documentation, hospital logistics and overall functioning based on the ground rules formed by the National Accreditation Board for Hospitals & Healthcare Providers (NABH) modified to assess service hospitals, the official said.
Lt Gen Sanjiv Chachra, General Officer Commanding in Chief, (GoC in C), NC congratulated Maj Gen Bipin Puri, Commandant Command Hosiptal(NC) and his team of doctors, nursing officers and staff for this achievement.
He mentioned that it was a proud movement for all ranks of NC. The Army Commander appreciated the Yeoman Service rendered by the Hospital towards the health care of troops, families, dependents and the people in the remotest corners of the State.
Command Hospital Udhampur has the unique distinction of being the only tertiary care hospital of the Armed Forces Medical Services to be deployed in CI Ops. Maj Gen Bipin Puri the present Commandant, an accomplished Paediatric Surgeon, leads a very committed and vibrant team of specialists and super specialists in this premier multi specialty hospital.
The hospital has embraced the philosophy of Excellence through Professionalism in letter and spirit.
