The modest charity endeavor by the will be an intra-office event with all the employees in the list of participants. While the exact date is still in the works, what is definite is that it will be a “Go to work in your jammies day” which will oblige the participants to go to the office wearing not business casual attires but their pajamas.
Activities in the morning will include collecting donation ranging from $5-$20 and each participant will receive a hand stamp as proof that they had given their donation. A selling of the bagels, donuts, and waffles will follow during brunch. Those people in the resume writing department will then participate in a mini-beauty pageant where there will be awards for best dressed, weirdest, most innovative, most old-school and worst-looking pajama wearer. There will also be selling of fluffy slippers as part of the fund raising event.
Irene Mae Denny, the company’s communication officer, emphasized that the money that will be generated from the event will directly go to a non-government organization that takes care of out-of-school youth.
“We know that one least expects a fundraising event from a resume writing service, but we felt that we need to give something back to the community as we have managed to stay afloat during these hard and financially- trying jobs. Our company is in the business of giving resume help to people who are looking for jobs and so far, the rate is modestly gaining, which a big achievement is considering the many layoffs that are happening right now.”
She also stressed that the idea came from the employees themselves during one of their monthly consultations. “They saw how out-of-school teens struggle to live normal lives even though it is obvious that they want to learn from inside the four walls of the school. It is alarming that more children are dropping out of school because of a number of reasons; either their parents lost their jobs or their families just really had to cut down their spending considerably.
