Condolences pouring in for renowned singer Vijay Malla

 

Jammu/Srinagar May 10, (Scoop News) -Condolences are still pouring in for Vijay Malla,the renowned singer of Jammu and Kashmir, who breathed his last on Wednesday after a massive heart attack. The 50 year old renowned singer is survived by his wife, son and daughter.

 

 

His death has come as a shock to his fans all over the country and as the news of Vijay Malla’s death spread here thousands of his fans rushed to his residence to express their grief and shock.

 

 

JK Governor NN Vohra, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and Union Minister Dr Farooq Abdullah expressed grief over the demise of Malla terming his death as a great loss to the artist fraternity and the society.

 

 

They conveyed sympathies with the bereaved family and prayed for eternal peace to the departed soul.

 

Former Director Radio Kashmir Srinagar, Bashir Arif called Malla as “an institution in himself”.

Adbee Markaz Kamraz has also expressed its condolences on Mallah’s demise.

 

 

The organizations of artists and KP organizations who expressed grief and sorrow over the demise of the prominent singer including Athwas Foundation led by Bihari Kak, Ramesh Hanglu of Pir Panchal,Radio Sharda, Sitar Maestro O N Raina, Anil Raina, Sunil Raina, Sarojni Raina/Malla, Dr Agnishaker of PK,Ashwani Chrungu,PK, DR Ajay Chrungoo of PK, A. N. Vaishnavi,RK Raina, M L  Chatta of ASKPS,  Moti Kaul of AIKS,   and others have also expressed their shock and grief over demise of singer Vijay Malla.

 

 

 

Artists of Song and Drama Division also expressed grief and sorrow over the demise of the prominent singer

 

 

 

 

Chairman, Legislative Council  Amrit Malhotra has expressed grief and sorrow over the sad demise of renowned singer Vijay Malla.

 

             Malhotra in his condolence message described Malla’s death a great loss of Kashmir culture and art. He conveyed his sympathy with the bereaved family and prayed for peace to the departed soul.

 

 

 

Minister for Tourism and Culture,  Nawang Rigzin Jora has expressed grief over the sad demise of Known Kashmiri Singer Vijay Malla describing his death great loss to the artists fraternity and the society.

 

            In his condolence message,  Jora conveyed his sympathies with the bereaved family and prayed for eternal peace to the departed soul.

 

President of JKPCC Saifuddin Soz said the artiste’s death had created a deep void in the Valley’s music industry that was difficult to fill.

 

 

 

J&K Pradesh Congress Committee has also expressed profound grief over the sad demise of Vijay Malla, a well known singer of Kashmir.

 

 

 

Senior leaders of Pradesh Congress Committee has said that the sad and sudden demise of Mr. Malla has caused great loss and state has loss a great singer. The Congress leaders conveyed heartfelt condolence to the family members, relatives and friends and expressed sympathies with them.

 

 

In a press statement, President of the State Disciplinary Committee &State Working Member Lalit Kumar Moza has expressed great sorrow and grief on the untimely death of Vijay Malla, a Kashmiri singer of great quality and repute. He said that Vijay Malla’s death is a irreplaceable loss to his family and that of the entire Kashmiri Diaspora in exile.

 

His death is tragic not only on account of his young age but also on account of having been a great social and cultural sheet-anchor of the exiled Kashmiris. His melodious renderings of Kashmiri bajans, songs and gazals had been acting as a binder and glue for the entire Kashmiri samaj at cultural and linguistic level and had helped it to retain its moorings in exile. He prayed for the peace of the departed soul and for giving strength to face this tragedy for the bereaved family.

 

Meanwhile, United Music Art Association has expressed grief and sorrow over the demise of the prominent singer. In a statement, president of the Association Aijaz Rah said that the demise of Malla has left a great void in the music and arts industry in the state.

 

Social networking sites also witnessed an over whelming outpouring of grief for the singer whose soulful voice had the quality to touch the deepest chords of human hearts.

 

Meanwhile Vijay Malla’s mortal remains were consigned to flames amid chanting of Vedic mantras at Bantalab Cremation Ground on Thursday afternoon. Hundreds of his fans including prominent personalities participated in his funeral procession

 

 

 

It may be mentioned here that renowned Kashmiri singer, Vijay Malla passed away Wednesday after he suffered massive heart attack at 4.30 pm and was immediately rushed to Government Medical College Hospital Jammu. But the doctors pronounced him as brought dead.

 

 

 

His death has come as a shock for the Kashmiri music industry. Malla is best remembered for his melodious voice and compositions. His experiment with fusion of Indian and Kashmiri classic music was also widely appreciated. Malla is also known for his efforts to revive the culture of Kashmiri Ghazals.

 

 

 

Hailing from Mallapura Gadoobagh, Habbakadal, Malla came to prominence as a singer from his school days as singing was his family trait.

 

He was also Music Director for Maa Sheranwali a Bhajan production of Song and Drama Division, which Mr Malla had joined in year 1982. His thousands of magical song numbers made him a heartthrob of many of his fans especially in Kashmir Valley.

 

He spent years in Mumbai and gave a splendid musical tribute titled Jus-ta Ju. On his return he continued to work with Song and Drama Division. Vijay Malla was an institution and a lighthouse of subtle musical nuances that he used to decorate his songs with. All this was natural to him.
