Terrese Edmonds was killed yesterday while operating a Boston trolley that rear-ended another train during rush hour. Terrese Edmonds, 24, had been a trolley conductor since August, according to the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority.
In addition to Terrese Edmonds, 12 passengers were injured. There were no other deaths in the accident.
When the trains collided, Terrese Edmonds was trapped until late Wednesday night in the twisted metal debris. She died of injuries after arriving at the hospital.
It appears the reason for the crash was a combination of human error and malfunctioning equipment. The first train was stalled by a trip-wire after the conductor failed to heed a stop light. Then it seems his train derailed.
Terrese Edmonds was unable to stop her train in time to avoid disaster and save her life.
Some are blaming faulty Boston transport infrastructure.
Her father Terry Jones confirmed her death to the Boston Globe late last night, saying, "My daughter died."
