Confidence building measures are overwhelmingly Kashmir centric: Panun Kashmir

 Jammu, September 25 (Scoop News) –  Ashwani Kumar Chrungoo President, Panun Kashmir said that the so-called confidence building measures announced by the Home Minister for the Jammu and Kashmir State are overwhelmingly Kashmir centric. While a package of 100 crore rupees for education has been granted in favour of Kashmir valley, there is no allocation of such package for Jammu and Ladakh regions.

In an emergency meeting of the Political affairs committee of Panun Kashmir held today under the chairmanship of Prof. M.L.Raina, Chairman, PAC in the backdrop of the announcements made by the Home Minister after the meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Security in New Delhi today. Those who attended the meeting included  Ashwani Kumar Chrungoo, President, Panun Kashmir, Virender Raina, National Spokesperson, J.L.Kaul, Vice President, Kamal Bagati and Virender Kaul.

Ashwani Kumar said, the infrastructural team for Jammu and Ladakh regions has not been defined and there is no such linkage of the team to bring Kashmiri Pandit community on its radar. The appointment of team of Interlocutors, in due course of time, has to engage all sections of people and stakeholders in the Jammu and Ladakh regions as well besides the indigenous people of Kashmir the Kashmiri Pandits, who have first and natural claim on the territory of Kashmir.

The announcement of the grant of Rs. five Lakh to the next of the kin of those killed in Kashmir violence and stone pelting incidents should be made equally applicable to those who were killed in the Amaranth agitation in Jammu in the year 2008, Ashwani demands.  

              Virender Raina in his speech said that the recommendations made by the CCS to the State government to review the Disturbed Area Act in the Unified Command meeting smacks of an attempt to influence the decision regarding lifting or dilution of AFSPA in the state. This is one more trial to bring security forces under pressure in the Jammu and Kashmir state. There should be no chance left for lifting and dilution of AFSPA in the state keeping in view the volatile security situation. The security forces are meant to protect the life and liberty of a vast majority of law abiding citizens and they cannot be left at the mercy of the arsonists and terrorists.

               The Political affairs committee acknowledged the effective and exclusive presentation made by the President of Panun Kashmir to the visiting All Party Delegation and expressed satisfaction that the Homeland and Panun Kashmir became the focal issues of deliberations.
