Jammu and Kashmir: Bi-annual
congregation of Sadhotra Brahmin and Charak Rajput biradari held at Data Ranpat
Dev Ji at Data Talab, Data Dera and Data Sathan, Birpur, about 10 kms from Jammu, with great gaiety
and enthusiasm here today. People including men, women and children from across
the region assembled and took part in holy prayers.
Children enjoyed sweets and other dishes and drinks prepared
on the occasion especially. Government has arranged all possible arrangements
of electricity, water supply and law and order situation. Despite rise in
mercury number of people in congregation was highest than past event.
Data Ranpat Dev sacrificed his life for the farmer community
like Baba Jitto. Dev Ji is also the Kuldevta of both the biradaris. The shrine
of Data Ranpat Dev Ji is famous for curing the skin diseases. The childless
women also seek the blessings of Data Ranpat Dev. The Committee of the Data Rampat Dev appealed
to all the people to participate in large numbers in the bi-annual
congregation. The Main attractions are Jhoola mela bazaar. Bhandara will also
be organised there.
Mostly people participate in holy prayers and then take a
dip in nearby pond and then only take the food called as Prashad. Meanwhile,
cold water stall were established across the region to celebrate Nirjala
Akashti.
