Lar/Ganderbal/Srinagar, April 29 (Scoop News) –Despite torrential rains, a number of Congress leaders on Sunday paid floral tributes to the former Minister Sheikh Abdul Jabbar on his 22nd death anniversary at his village Lar, Ganderbal in Kashmir the father of Ganderbal District Congress Committee President, Sheikh Ashfaq.
While paying tributes to late leader, the Pradesh Congress Committee President and Member Parliament, Saif-ud-Din Soz addressing the Congress workers said that Sheikh Jabbar was a humble down to earth leader and always worked for the welfare of the poor and downtrodden.
Soz said the Congress Party especially the Central Congress leaders like UPA Chairperson and the AICC President, Mrs. Sonia Gandhi and the worthy Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh are very much interested about the overall development of the people of the

Soz said, India as a big democratic country is very much eager that democracy in his immediate neighbouring country may also flourish and the peace and prosperity may prevail in that country which is also in the best interest of our country. He said some times back
Earlier, the Minister for Technical Education, Youth Services and Sports, R.S. Chib while remembering the services of the departed leader said that he was a noble person and was very much helpful to the backward classes and downtrodden. He said that he has an opportunity to work with that humble personality. He said the late leader was keen about overall development of his area and added, the present coalition government is committed to develop this area. He, however, said that Congress party is ultimately the centre of the source of welfare of the people.
While paying tributes to the father of Sheikh Ashfaq, late Sheikh Jabbar, the Minister for Revenue and Rehabilitation, Raman Bhalla said that the late leader was very much well wisher of the people of the area and particularly he was total committed for the development of the poor, downtrodden and destitutes etc.
Bhalla said the Congress party has a long history of paying sacrifices for national integration and strengthening the Party at the grass root level. He asked the workers to go ahead with the mission of the AICC Chief and UPA Chairperson, Mrs. Sonia Gandhi and the dynamic Congress leader and M.P, Rahul Gandhi for strengthening the Party throughout the country. However, he said that the peaceful atmosphere is very much imperative for completing all these ongoing projects which are presently under execution. He said since these projects would be completed it will change the developmental map of the whole state.
Referring the demands like construction of Tehsil Complex and others, Bhalla assured them that their genuine demands would be looked into sympathetically.
On the occasion, Bhalla appealed the workers for strengthening the Congress Party which is necessary not only for the welfare of the people but is also essential for the national integration.
Earlier, the Ganderbal District Congress President, Ashfaq submitted a memorandum to Soz regarding various developmental activities including granting of backward status to the different areas of the Ganderbal district, early completion of mega projects, acquisition of land for Tehsil Complex and upgradation of health centre etc.
Soz assured him that he will take up the matter with the concerned higher authorities.
MLC and Congress leader, Bashir Ahmad Magray and Vice President, JKPCCI, Parray and other leaders were also present on the occasion.
