Disgruntled over the way the police handled the probe on the blast that killed a Muslim congressman and two civilian employees in the premises of the House of Representatives in Quezon City, Philippines, many members of the Filipino community in Los Angeles have suspected that the incident could have been well-planned in order to scare off the congressmen who favor the ouster of President Arroyo, through impeachment proceedings.
In the first place, they are questioning the investigators for allowing a civilian motorcycle to come inside the premises without first being checked as to whether it was loaded with a bomb. Unless, the suspect had shown any badge or identification that would shake the security personnel at the gate so that he was allowed to get in without any hassle at all. But what makes many people irritated was the manner by which the security personnel, mostly comprising of Philippines Marines soldiers, were replaced without first conducting a thorough investigation on the matter was a big question now.
At least the people would like to know from the security personnel themselves who allowed the entry of suspect in order to give the investigators the complete description of the suspect. But it seemed this was not considered. Now, there are reports that some suspects in the bombing were killed and others arrested. The danger now here is that killing of the suspect could jeopardize the efforts of the investigators in coming out with a concrete result because the person responsible for the crime was already eliminated. No wonder, it is a common strategy in the Philippines so that the suspects could no longer talk nor shed light as to who really was the mastermind. Isn’t it?
