Foreign students who have overstayed their student visas in the United States are a huge security concern for officials. With at least one Florida Congressman raising some pretty serious security concerns relating to the 6000 or so foreign nationals in our country that officials can’t locate and have no idea where these people are at currently. Making matters worse officials admit they have no clue if these people entering our country on student visa’s are here legitimately or not? After a while many become lost in the system.
“These gaps in the student visa system pose serious security threats to the United States and exploit the laws that allow for legitimate academic and cultural visitors, which I support,” Bilirakis said.
Rep. Bilirakis pointed out that some “4,000 foreign fighters, with some 300 coming from the U.S., are of college age.” Bilirakis’ concern is that some of those fighters could be from the ranks of the missing 6,000 and others from the 58,000 who have overstayed their visas.
