On June 2, 2014 Speaker of the House Boehner received the following communication from Congressman Renacci:
CONGRESS OF THE UNITED STATES,
HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES,
Washington, DC, May 30, 2014.
Hon. JOHN A. BOEHNER,
Speaker, House of Representatives,
Washington, DC.
DEAR MR. SPEAKER: This is to notify you formally, pursuant to Rule VIII of the Rules of the House of Representatives, that I have been served with a subpoena, issued by the United States District Court for the Northern District of Ohio, for both documents and testimony in a criminal case.
After consultation with the Office of General Counsel, I will determine whether compliance with the subpoena is consistent with the privileges and rights of the House.
Sincerely,
JIM RENACCI,
Member of Congress.

Needless to say this ends speculation about whether or not Congressman Renacci will testify at the Benjamin Suarez criminal trial.
Benjamin Suarez is the North Canton businessman accused of secretly funneling illegal campaign contributions to Ohio Treasurer Josh Mandel and U.S. Rep. Jim Renacci.
The Republican politicians have not been formally charged yet, but the question dominating political observers on both sides is whether either will be called to testify.
