The Cook Inlet is a place in Anchorage Alaska. That’s not what this story is about. There are some beluga whales in that inlet that are on its way to becoming endangered. And you could help get the Cook Inlet beluga on the endangered species list by writing a letter to the Bush Administration supporting the Center of Biological Diversity’s petition.
Actually, its already been drafted for you; all you have to do is go to the CBD’s web page and email it. How simple is that? Need more evidence?
Well, in the 1980s, this whale numbered around 1,3000. Now the number has dwindled to a mere 300. More than that Anchorage, Alaska, as you might know from watching "Northern Exposure" is heavily polluted from industrial pullutants like oil and a bunch of other stuff. Definitiely not kosher for the beluga.
So, please do your part in preserving these whales and they’re so fun to look at whether you’re near the New York acquarium or the San Diego Sea World, i bet you have seen a white beluga.
Its the least we can do for something so beautiful a species as the Cook Inlet beluga whale.
