In Brian Montopoli’s recent Horserace bloc entry on CBS News, he questions if there is a possibility that the 2008 Democratic National Convention set in Denver, Colorado, this coming August will be similar to the 1968 Democratic National Convention that took place in Chicago, Illinois.
It looks to be possible courtesy of a group known as “Re-create 68.” The 1968 Democratic National Convention was considered to be “bloody.” However, Re-create 68 vows to make the 2008 Democratic National Convention even bloodier than 1968.
Re-create 68 looks bent towards making a recreation of 1968 possible. If it does happen, it could possibly spell disastrous for the Democratic Party. It is unknown whether the group will go on with this vow or not.
This group is angry that the Civic Center is being used to host the DNC. The DNC got the bid that came after permits to use the center were redrawn. The group’s organizer, Glenn Spagnuolo says that it will not be their fault when things get out of hand due to police having to enforce the permit that the DNC has obtained.
One question is posed: What does this possibly foreshadow?
