council rules disturbing traders in Kakamega town

The Kakamega road side sellers are stranded after the council burned them from operating their businesses beside busy roads.
The council urged traders to secure trading licenses, warned those who pollute noise and threatened to assign police officers to arrest those who break the rules.
The traders claimed not to have any other place to operate their business since they moved out of the old m market to pave way for the construction of the new structure.
“We are eagerly waiting to secure stalls in the new market which is safer to operate our business since it will provide shade and secure our goods from the rain. We shall continue to sell beside the roads until the council allocates stalls to us since we have nowhere else to go “said the roadside sellers
Speaking to KNA, one of the Kakamega residents who spoke on anonymity said “Road side sellers have really polluted the roads since they dispose the waste along the roads. They have crowded in pavements left for pedestrians who are forced to commute on the tarmac roads .this put them into a risk of accidents.”
