Counterattack

Barbara’s Poetry From The Heart Corner

Bombs burst
explosions rip
bodies lost
a land of dead
lies in the ruins
Lord give them strength
to face the tragedies of destruction
in a far-off country besieged by war.

The enemy doesn’t retract
keeps moving forward
no hesitation
destroys everything in its path
a country invaded by terrorist
have’s no pity for beast or man
determined to overtake a nation.

A land once vibrant and positive
once brave and confident
in line of fire
pleas for help but only a few listens
why are they being bombarded
their actions weren’t against another
they believed in live and let live?

A state once stood tall and proud
destroyed in a matter of seconds
will they ever see it returned
to the territory they once loved and ruled?
How could this happen?
Trust and not watchful…
brought disaster to their country.

A lesson taught
keep an eye on borders
watch those who pretend to be friends
waiting to strike and takeover a city
have eyes in the sky and on beaches
guard ports and airports
prepared to strike back to counterattack.
